Hey all! I have a problem. We moved a few months ago, and in the process the title to my 71 Mustang was destroyed. I bought the car 5 years ago, drove it home, and it had been resting in my garage ever since. Here is the real pickle. It was a California title and it was signed over to me, but I was lazy and never got an Arizona title for the car. Does anyone know how to go about getting an AZ title for it? I do not have a bill of sale. Totally stupid I know, please don't remind me! Thank you for any and all input.

So you had the tittle signed over to you but never had it transferred? oh man, not good. Who is the previous owner? Someone you know? because I think thats the only way your going to be able to get a new tittle. Technically the car still belongs to that person and they will be the only one able to request a new tittle. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Unless you know the previous owner and he is willing to get a duplicate title and sign it over again you are out of luck doing it the easy way. Your only option would be to get a bonded title. This takes a while to process but if the car is in project stage it should be ok. You can contact the DMV on how to start the bonded title process or you can pay a company to do it for you. I paid to have it done 10 years ago on a car I had and the total cost was close to $200 including the cost of the bond.
